We are delighted to welcome local author and illustrator Amy Comerford to
Hartburn to work with our Key Stage Two children on Thursday 23rd March. We are especially
thrilled as Amy is a previous pupil of the school.
Amy’s wonderful children’s book is titled ‘Lu Lu and The Feather’. The book tackles the subject
of grief and loss which becomes reality for a brave little girl named Lu Lu after the death of her
beloved Nan, Su Su. Lu Lu’s journey of processing her grief begins when a thought-provoking
white feather falls into her path on her walk to school. This one moment takes Lu Lu on an
enchanting adventure filled with hope, courage and an introduction to a very special friendship.
Lu Lu and The Feather is a comforting tool to help children understand the process of grief
through an uplifting story. The colourful illustrations feature some of the beautiful green spaces
which formed part of Amy’s childhood within the North East of England.
Amy will be running a series of workshops for Year 3-6 and speaking about the book, her
career, her time at Hartburn and her other career within Veterinary Medicine.
Amy has kindly offered children the opportunity to purchase a signed copy of her book for just
£7. These need to be pre-ordered and paid for in advance. Even though the workshops are for
KS2, children from any year group may purchase a signed copy of the book. Please use the link
below to pre-order your copy. A payment note will then be added to your Parent Pay account
for you to pay the £7.
